What Makes SutraStack Different: A Hotelier, an OTA Insider and an Engineer

SutraStack is built by a founder who ran hotels, one who spent years at big OTAs and holds a PhD in tourism, and an engineer. Here is how those three views shape the hotel PMS, and where it goes next.

What Makes SutraStack Different: A Hotelier, an OTA Insider and an Engineer

The short answer

SutraStack is a hotel PMS built by three founders who have seen a hotel's problems from three different sides. V ran hotels for years and lived in them. H spent years at big OTAs and holds a PhD in tourism. S is an engineer who builds in many technologies. It's rare to find all three views around one table, and SutraStack is built from all of them.

Three views of the same hotel

From the front desk

V spent years running hotels and living in them: the register at the desk, the spreadsheets, the WhatsApp group that became the booking system, the late-night calls. That view decides what SutraStack puts first.

  • The Front Desk screen opens on today's arrivals, because that is the first question every morning.
  • Walk-ins, phone bookings and OTA bookings land on one booking chart.
  • It runs in a web browser on a laptop, tablet or phone, because the person at the desk is often the person serving breakfast too.

From the OTA side

H spent years at big OTAs and studied tourism to a PhD. That view shapes how SutraStack works with Booking.com, MakeMyTrip, Goibibo and 100+ more OTAs.

  • When a room sells on one channel, SutraStack closes it on the others.
  • If you choose, your prices follow the seasons and days of the week you set, and go out to the OTAs on the right dates.
  • If an OTA connection fails five times in a row, SutraStack pauses it and tries again after 15 minutes, then waits longer between tries, instead of hammering the OTA.

To us, OTAs are a channel to work with, not a cost to fight. That comes from knowing how they work from the inside.

From inside the code

S is an engineer who builds in many technologies. That view is why the parts you never see were built first.

  • Every change carries a name, a time, and the value before and after. The log can't be edited or deleted in the app.
  • If your front desk and a guest on your booking page try for the last room at the same moment, only one gets it.
  • Each person sees only what their role allows.

What drives us

We want SutraStack to stand with the best hotel software in the world. For us, that means four things.

  • Safe. Every action has a name and a time next to it, so nothing at your hotel changes without a trace.
  • Secure. Security comes first in everything we build. We work to the industry's best security practices and run regular security audits. You can see everyone who has access to your hotel, you get an email whenever someone signs in, and the Audit Log keeps every sign-in.
  • Practical. It's built around how Indian hotels really work: walk-ins, WhatsApp bookings, the OTAs your guests use, and GST bills with CGST and SGST.
  • Easy, even fun, to use. Hotel software is often something staff put up with. We want a screen your team is happy to open at the start of a shift.

What's next: automation and AI

The repetitive work at a front desk is where automation and AI can help most, and it's where we're heading next. We'll bring it in step by step, and each piece goes in only once it works in a real hotel.

See it for yourself

The best way to judge any hotel PMS is on your own rooms. If you're comparing options, our guide on how to choose a hotel PMS lists what to check. For how it all started, read our story, or meet V, H and S on the About page.

Ask for a demo and we'll call you within 24 hours to fix a time.
